Story sketches from Alice in Wonderland. The 2 framed story board drawings of the White Rabbit I bought at an art auction years ago. I love the simplified line work and manic expressions. A lot of charm in these sketches.

Alice and the Queen
“Wonderland Stories” simplified by Elizabeth Lewis. Tonal illustrations mostly done by Philip Lyford.
“‘Who are you?’ said the Caterpillar.”
Another colour commission. The requester said I could use whatever version of the story I wanted, so I decided to go to the source material (as in, the original writing) and go from there. Made it more fun than just copying Disney’s designs or something like that.
For those unaware, this is a scene from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, which I never thought I’d ever draw or paint from.
This person got more of a background than usual because the context suggested it and I couldn’t help myself, ha ha.
